Jeepers - Sharks Use
Extreme Training Methods!

30th July 2008

The Cornish Sharks American Football team is gearing up for a derby match against local rivals the Plymouth Admirals with a little help from the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership at Indian Queens.

Carrs of Cornwall, which is one of the team’s sponsors for the current season, has invited the squad to put in some extra training by taking on an all-new Jeep Cherokee in a tug-of-war match at its dealership.

Paul Ridgwell, General Manager at Carrs of Cornwall, said: “With the local derby match being the last fixture of the season for the Cornish Sharks before the play-offs, we were only too glad to help.

“And the all-new Jeep Cherokee, which has only just arrived in our showroom, is a worthy opponent with its class-leading pulling power. I just hope this extra bit of extreme training will give them the winning edge!”

The sponsorship deal with Carrs of Cornwall has also seen the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge logos emblazoned on the players’ shirts.

Brian Smallworth, Coach of the Cornish Sharks, said:  “Our thanks go to Carrs of Cornwall for arranging this extra training session. We’ve had a great second season so far and look forward to carrying on our good form in our last scheduled game.  A win would secure us a place in the play-offs for a second year running.”

The Cornish Sharks play in the British American Football League and made British American football history by making the play offs with seven wins and three losses in their first season in 2007.
